Weʼre raising £12,000 to buy a new motorised chair for a student in our school
We have a campaign that we have just started in school called E’s Wheels. This young person is a student in our school. He has Arthrogryposis which is characterised by multiple joint contractures of the upper and lower limbs. In essence, this causes severe restrictions to his mobility and he is fully dependent on adults for all of his needs. He is the most lovely human being – we are so grateful and happy that he is a member of our school community.
He currently has a motorised chair which enables him to be mobile. His chair restricts him to standard surfaces. In colder weather, he is unable to travel to school if there is ice or snow on the ground and his chair does not allow him to venture anywhere ‘off road’ as it were.
A second chair for him would be completely life changing. It would open up a world that is much more exciting and accessible to him.
Me (Headteacher of the school) and Mary Davidson have places in the GNR this year and will be using this as an opportunity to raise funds for this. I vowed last year that I would never do the GNR again, but this is something that I feel so passionately about – I think it will be worth the pain!!!
