Prudhoe Community High School has been educating young people since the original school building opened in 1958. The school community moved into a new building on the same site in September 2016.  

Our school is a thriving, attractive and well resourced school serving the community of Prudhoe and beyond. We are an over-subscribed school with two main feeder schools – Highfield and Ovingham Middle Schools. We also have a number of students travelling from outside our catchment to attend our school. 

In 2023, we became part of the Cheviot Learning Trust. Within the Trust are 2 high schools, 5 middle schools and 10 first schools within the Tyne Valley and Morpeth areas. 

In February 2025, the school building  had to close for a significant period of time and our whole school community relocated to Washington following a number of weeks of on-line learning. We are a genuine community school and the community aspect of our school was never more apparent than during that particular time with so much support from a community so invested in its local school.  

We are an inclusive school community of learners. Everyone matters in our school and we are committed to ensuring that all students are supported to achieve their full potential and enjoy their time with us. 

I am very privileged to lead an exceptional team of very dedicated staff who support students every day so that they can achieve their very best. This is a particular strength of Prudhoe Community High School and we pride ourselves on the excellent relationships within our school community.

Excellence is at the heart of everything that we do here at Prudhoe Community High School. Students describe the school as a happy community which is evident in the relationships between staff, students and parents / carers.

Working in partnership with parents is crucial, if we are to ensure all of our children feel safe, happy, valued and achieve their full potential.
